With a rich world along with Hercules and fun characters, the show had both adult and youthful themes.  Wizards wanted to expand into the under 10 crowd with simple game play mechanics. So the ARC universe was created.  The ARC system launched with three titles. Unfortunately WOTC underestimated the sophistication and intelligence of potential younger players who rejected these games as too simple. Magic, as well as  licensed games ; The X-Files, Star Wars. Star Trek were all complex and later on even the Harry Potter  as well of course the Pokémon card game was as well.  The ARC system was quickly shelved. Card game historians have a passing interest.
